Small Group Sessions
- Are you looking for a way to beat the “summer brain drain”?
- Does your child do well in school, but rarely enjoys it?
- Would you describe your child as social and someone who prefers working with others?
Our small group sessions may be perfect for you! We offer math, reading, and other literacy small group sessions during the summer at a discounted price from our one-on-one tutoring sessions.
Math Small Groups
Math Game Days – Our math game day is offered once a week with a small group of same-aged peers. Students spend the entire hour playing math games! Each week students will play games to reinforce their math facts and help maintain or improve their fact mastery. In addition, we will work on various other age-appropriate math skills and problem solving skills. Students will remember how to have fun while practicing math and receiving prizes for their hard work.
Math Fact Fluency Groups – Does your child need help improving their fact fluency? We offer addition/subtraction and multiplication/division fact groups. Students spend the entire hour playing games working on fact fluency! It’s a fun way to practice working on math facts. Students will improve their confidence in their math facts and that ultimately helps them improve on many other math areas.
Problem Solving – Does your child need help on solving word problems? This group may be perfect for them! We introduce the CUBES strategy to help students break apart each word problem and determine what operation to use and what strategy will help them solve the problem. We practice solving word problems through the use of games, cooperative learning, escape rooms and more!
Here are some reviews from parents about our Math Game Day:
“Math Game Day was exactly what my children needed to help build their confidence up. I was concerned that they were not retaining their math facts and this class showed me that they were, but needed a little reinforcement which is exactly what Math Game Day did for them. It challenged them and made them want to get all the answers correct! I plan to send my youngest next summer if we can get a spot :)”
“Kelly’s Math Game Day was a wonderful experience for my daughter. She looked forward to going every week and asked if she could go more often. I feel like it kept her mind engaged in math all why building confidence in her skills.”
“I was especially excited seeing my happy little girl’s face when she walked into the first day of 3rd grade and realized she knew everything! Great job, Kelly!”
“A fun environment to help boost math confidence!”
Reading Book Club
Book Club is an opportunity for up to five same-aged peers to meet and discuss literacy together in a fun and engaging way! Students in grades 2 through 8 will read a novel to use as a catalyst to practice various comprehension skills and strategies. Students in kindergarten and 1st grade will not receive a book to read at home, but will utilize a number of poems and picture books to help practice their skills.
During our time together we will cover vocabulary techniques, comprehension strategies, and fluency and decoding skills using the novel as our learning tool. Each student receives their own copy of the book and will be asked to read a little bit at home before each session. Students will have fun discussing, learning, and becoming stronger readers!
Below you will find some reviews from parents about Book Club. For individual references, please contact Kelly.

Handwriting Club
Handwriting Club was started a few years ago due to parent requests. I enjoy the challenge of bringing a rather boring skill to practice, to a more engaging and entertaining one. Students will be using the Handwriting without Tears curriculum to practice their skills. In addition, we will be doing “writing races,” corresponding to each other, and playing handwriting games.
