FAQ
What ages do you tutor?
I typically work with students from preschool through eighth grade. In the past I have also tutored students in high school writing and math. If you have a high school student, please contact Kelly to determine if this would be a good fit for your child.
How often should my child be tutored?
For each student I recommend at least an hour a week per subject. For our younger students, I suggest a half-hour session each week. Many students benefit from the one-on-one reinforcement in a particular subject and find our game day or book club as a nice way to still review other skills. If you are unsure about how often your child should be tutored, please feel free to contact Kelly.
What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If something comes up and your child will be unable to attend their tutoring session, I ask that you give me at least 48 hours notice or you will still be charged for the session.
Are there options besides one-on-one tutoring?
Yes! I have a variety of small group options which are great for students who enjoy the social aspect of learning, want to avoid the summer “brain drain,” and also cost less than individual tutoring. This summer I am continuing to offer Book Clubs and Math Fact Groups. I am adding Math Problem Solving groups, a Figurative Language group, and two Sight Word Groups. Visit our Small Group Sessions page to read more about each option.
Do you offer any discounts?
I do! I receive most of my students from word of mouth. If you refer a family that ends up registering, you will receive a $10 discount.
What subjects do you tutor in?
Typically, I tutor students in reading, writing, or math. During the school year, I am happy to focus on science or social studies, however, I will use the curriculum and assignments provided by the school. I also offer classes on study skills, researching, and executive functioning skills. If you are interested in a different skill or subject not listed here, please contact Kelly for more information.
What days/times is tutoring offered?
I will always do my best to work with you and your child’s schedule. In the summer, I offer week day times from 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. During the school year, I offer afternoon and evening times. If you have to miss a session for a prior conflict, I will do my best to reschedule it so your child is not missing out. Please contact Kelly if you have questions about availability.
What form of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, checks, Zelle, or Venmo. I am also happy to receive payment by credit card but there is an additional fee applied. Please ask Kelly if you are interested in a credit card payment.
